My pore mans solution to the Samson establishing shot was to create everthing with 3D compositing.  This took some matte painting skill, but let me produce full quality test renders (complete with depth of field and motion blur) in a matter of minutes on a single computer!  A big animation studio probably would have built the scene in full 3D then rendered it out overnight on a thousand or so computers.  I have 1 computer, so that approach doesn’t work for me.

My current project is a comedy called “Samson”.   Samson is a 45sec fake movie trailer that will hopefully have an “Incredibles/Shrek feel” to it.  It’s over the top to the point of being ridiculous…Samson sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger, poses like a bodybuilder every chance he gets, he’s very self centered, into the ladies, worried about his hair, etc.

Samson will hopefully be a funny machismo diversion for a lot of people, but I’m actually animating it to point out his tragic character flaws.  That’s what the story is really all about.

Welcome to my site!

My day job is producing high end 3D for a military contractor, but in my free time I’ve started producing christian 3D animation.

I’ll be using this site to generate interest in my work, and to test the feasibility of creating a virtual studio (using intelligent small studio workflows, talented but inexpensive freelancers, blog based communication, and Window’s free SkyDrive online storage system).  If you’re a fellow 3D artist or just a fan of 3D christian animation feel free to stop in and say hi.
